The Key to Organizing Your Keys: A Simple and Effective Hack<\/span><\/h2>\n

Between work and home, there are innumerable places that need to be locked and unlocked. In the past, people were able to get by with \u201cskeleton keys\u201d that could open several different locks. These days, security is too much of a concern so we often end up with a very heavy keychain to carry all the keys we need. The problem is that so many keys look alike that it\u2019s difficult to keep track of them all\u2026.but not with this crafty life hack. Keep reading to learn the key to organizing keys!<\/p>\n

  1. The first trick is to free all your keys from their key chains. Separate work from home keys. It\u2019s preferable to have a separate key chain for work and home so that you don\u2019t have to carry all of them at the same time, all the time.<\/li>\n
  2. The next step is to organize your keys into an order that makes sense. If you have a certain order that you open\/unlock things, follow that in your mind and place the keys in that order. For example: place your key for the front door of your home in position 1, then place your garage key next to that, then your car key, etc.<\/li>\n
  3. Once you have your home and work keys sorted, you can start with the fun part. Take several different nail polish colors and color code your keys by painting the heads of them with the nail polish. Red for the front door, blue for the garage, green for the basement. Get creative! Be sure to put at least two coats on so that the polish will last. Here\u2019s a tip to make it easier to paint your keys\u2026lay them on the edge of a table so that the heads hang over and tape the blades to the countertop. This will allow you hands free painting and will let them dry without sticking.<\/li>\n
  4. Now that your keys are color coded, it\u2019s time to put them onto their respective key rings. Here\u2019s a great life hack that will save your fingernails: use a staple remover to open up the key ring. Simply use the points of the staple remover to pry open the key ring and then you\u2019ll be able to easily slide each key on with nary a chipped nail!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now that your keys are all color coded and organized, the only trick is to not lose them. Our best suggestion for that is to designate a specific place for them like a shallow dish or hook on the wall.<\/p>\n
