Wine Storage Conditions

Temperature

Temperature extremes can alter your wine's aroma and flavor. As a result, The Lock Up Wine Cellars utilize very exacting refrigeration equipment designed to ensure a constant year round temperature of 55 degrees. For the safety of your collection, our modern refrigeration equipment is dedicated solely to the wine cellar and is completely separate from the main buildings heating and cooling systems.

Humidity

Humidity fluctuations can also harm your wine. Relative humidity levels of 60-70% are strongly recommended for the storage of fine wine. The Lock Up Wine Cellars all employ advanced, dedicated humidity control systems to ensure consistent humidity levels within this desirable range.

Climate Control Certification

The Lock Up Wine Cellars are all hard-wired to collect real-time data on the temperature and humidity levels inside the wine storage unit. This data is tracked and stored on the computer systems in the main office, and can be printed in graph format to certify that your collection has been properly stored during the life of your stay. This documentation can often prove valuable when selling fine wines at auction.
